ABOUT US
Organizational History
H.O.P.E. (Helping Others Prepare for Eternity) Ministries, Inc., is a faith-based non-profit community development service organization. Established in 1992, the organization served the Reynoldstown and Cabbagetown communities primarily by providing after-school tutorials and summer day camps. In March of 1993, H.O.P.E. was granted federal tax-exempt status under Section 501© 3 of the Internal Revenue Code. Georgia tax-exempt status was also acquired December of the same year. From 2004-2008, H.O.P.E. operated an after school tutorial program, called Character First, in partnership with Drew Charter School in the new Eastlake Community. This program emphasized 9 character builders that were taught by definition, illustration, and application. Our program operated Tuesday through Friday, from 4pm-6pm on the campus of Drew Charter School. We served approximately 60 students throughout the school year, spanning grades K-5, by providing them with daily homework assistance, tutoring in Mathematics and Language Arts, and teaching Character Development.
In August 2007, H.O.P.E. Ministries, Inc. relocated to its current site at Community Bible Chapel located at 1430 Bouldercrest Rd. Atlanta, GA 30316. During the summer of 2008, we launched HOPE Summer Enrichment Program; a six week summer day camp program for children ages 5-14 at Community Bible Chapel. Children were provided free breakfast, lunch, and snacks daily, received academic enrichment in Math and Language Arts, had daily devotions, went on weekly field trips, and participated in a variety of recreational activities.
At the start of the 2008-09 school year, H.O.P.E. Ministries collaborated with a new non-profit, The I.M.A.G.E. Programs, serving children in the Edgewood Court community in Atlanta, GA through our satellite character education program. Through this partnership we served 25 children ages 6-14 years old, every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 6pm. In February 2009, our character education program expanded again as we partnered with International Community School in Stone Mountain, GA to bring character education to their 5th and 6th grade students each Tuesday and Thursday from 3pm to 4pm. At this site, we served approximately 100 students.
In 2010 H.O.P.E. Preparatory Group emerged to provide private full-day home school services for students in grades K-8 on our site at Community Bible Chapel. We are partners with our local school system and parents in educating our young people so they can grow up to be productive citizens in their communities. Our program not only offers a safe, nurturing environment for children to learn, but also affords children the opportunity to enhance their leadership abilities, receive character development and training in moral excellence, and participate in serving the community. For the past twenty-nine years, H.O.P.E. Ministries, Inc. has remained committed to not only the building and rebuilding of lives, but also committed to developing children and teens who are academically and morally strong in their local communities and the world.
